"I Don't Want Big Muscles, I'm a Female"
Right this has been a topic that keeps being brought up with me time after time on Twitter, the female gender want to lose fat and "tone", so you go slogging it out every minute on the treadmill or in your local park, just take a step back and chill out. Snap away from the whole "cardio" fever.
The perfect remedy to lose weight and "tone" (by the way i don't like using the word tone and technically it does'nt exist in terms of hypertrophy) is to jump into the weights room and use it! Get some resistance training done, we can all run on a treadmill for 3 hours a day but what benefit do you ever see? I attend the gym every single day without fail, even on rest days & I see the same people in everyday just like me sweating their noses off just to lose a pound.
It works like this, You lose weight by using more calories than you take in, we all know that right? So if you use weights, your body is tearing muscle fibres and growing more in place, yes we probably know this too, The more DENSE your muscle fibres are the more calories it takes to run these muscles even when resting, so the stronger & leaner you are the more calories you burn, which in turn ladies adds up to loss of FAT! Not weight.
Stop being scared you won't turn into Arnie overnight, just take it easy and let your body do the work. Eat well & watch yourself "tone". GO FOR IT!
